Week of 5 January

1. Hangar doors installed in Adelaide (Australia)

Just before year‑end, our colleagues at BESIX Watpac marked a major milestone at the Deep Maintenance and Modification Facility in northern Adelaide, which will support specialised maintenance for Australia’s military aircraft. Four giant bespoke hangar doors, each spanning 48 metres and wide enough for a Boeing 737 to pass through, have been installed. Thanks to close collaboration, efficient planning and the strategic use of digital construction methods, the team is ahead of schedule, with completion scheduled for mid‑2026.

2. Series of major immersion operations comes to an end (Belgium)

Over the weekend of 14–15 December, the COTU joint venture successfully immersed the eighth and final section of the Scheldt Tunnel in Antwerp, bringing an impressive series of operations to a close. Since July, teams have worked tirelessly to position each element, and this last immersion marks a major milestone. The next steps include completing the two‑metre closure joint between the seventh and eighth sections, installing steel formwork and carrying out concrete works. Watch the video below for a look back at this remarkable achievement:

3. Pile lining Huccorgne Viaduct completed (Belgium)

Last month, our team started the lining of a couple of the largest piles of the Huccorgne Viaduct on the E42/A15 between Liège and Namur. BESIX and Galère finished the rehabilitation of this 547‑metre viaduct in the summer of 2023, and are now cleaning and lining the piles of over 50 metres high. This also involves applying a layer of reinforcement and concrete to ensure the structure’s long-term durability. Looking good, team.

4. Safety first on Strijderslaan (Belgium)

Since January 2025, BESIX Infra has been rehabilitating Strijderslaan in Hamme on behalf of water treatment company Aquafin. The works include installing separate sewerage systems and renewing the road surface. Recently, the team was praised by Aquafin for its strong commitment to safety, a recognition that deserved a celebration. And what better way than burgers on-site? Well done, colleagues!

And then this... BESIX spotted at Belgian content creator’s Turbo Cross event

On 22 December 2025, the third edition of Belgian YouTuber and content creator Average Rob’s Turbo Cross took place in Hofstade, with a day of short, intense cyclocross races across multiple categories. In the lead‑up, Average Rob and his brother Arno The Kid checked the trail ... wearing BESIX gear! Watch the video by clicking on the image below.
