Week of 2 October

1. BESIX RED’s project ICÔNE wins “Best Offices Building” award (Grand Duchy of Luxembourg)

We are thrilled to announce that the prestigious "Best Offices Building" award was recently presented to the architectural marvel “ICÔNE” at the LuxReal & Paperjam+ Delano Business Club Real Estate Awards. Placed at the heart of Belval and designed by the renowned architectural firms Foster + Partners and BFF architectes, this exceptional project was developed by BESIX RED and constructed by BESIX and Lux TP. The jury was particularly impressed by the project's transformation of a former industrial area. Congratulations to all the colleagues and entities involved in bringing this outstanding achievement to fruition. Well done, BESIX RED!

2. 4 km of sheet piling in Nordhavn (Denmark)

Piling works have commenced in Copenhagen as a significant milestone in the Nordhavn project. Following the successful creation of a sandbank within the marina, the next phase involves installing over 4 kilometres of sheet piling along the tunnel track. This extensive piling effort is essential in creating a secure and watertight construction pit, which will serve as the foundation for the tunnel's construction. Anticipated for completion in spring 2024, the construction pit will play a crucial role as the staging area for the upcoming tunnel casting process, further advancing this transformative infrastructure endeavour. Congratulations to our team in Denmark!

3. Moving time for BESIX Watpac (Australia)

Exciting times for BESIX Watpac! The New South Wales team has moved their regional office into the magnificent Poly Centre, an award-winning landmark in the heart of Sydney. This remarkable building showcases BESIX's expertise in delivering complex projects within tightly constrained sites, as our local team was responsible for its construction. The new office is now situated on Level 15, 210 George Street, Sydney, and our Australian colleagues eagerly look forward to welcoming clients and partners to their inspiring new workspace, where innovation and collaboration will continue to thrive. Enjoy your new home NSW team!

4. Great progress ahead for Port of Navegantes (Brazil)

Exciting news also from our colleagues working on Port of Navegantes: progress has been made in the preliminary works and the site installations are almost done! These structures, including facilities and amenities for personnel, will play a vital role in providing an effective working environment for the project team. In addition, the first major pieces of equipment have been delivered and installed, like the gantry cranes and the first out of two batching plants. We’re already in full swing with some full-scale trial mixes. The next months will be dedicated to the testing phase, with more than 20 load tests planned. These tests will be spread between 60-metre-deep bored piles, for which preparatory works are being carried out, and 70-metre-long staggered grout anchors, which will be performed using equipment and expertise from Franki Foundations. Congratulations Brazilian team!

And then this... Vanhout’s hot air balloon! (Belgium)

Whether we are talking about construction projects or hot air balloons, the sky is no limit for Vanhout! And what more unique way to engage with their clients and partners than to provide them with the thrill and adventure of floating above the earth in a giant Vanhout-branded balloon? Go ahead and check for yourselves in the video below!
