Week of 2 March
1. Rail works on track despite winter weather (Belgium)
From 14 to 18 February, our teams carried out another intense round of works during the temporary closure of the Bilzen–Hoeselt railway line. In just a few days, they installed a 385‑tonne cycling and pedestrian tunnel under the tracks and pushed a 525‑tonne railway deck into its final position using Self‑Propelled Modular Transporters. Heavy snowfall added an extra layer of difficulty, but the team kept everything safely on schedule. Thanks to their coordination and resilience, the line reopened to train traffic as planned. Congratulations, team!
These works are part of a wider project to replace seven level crossings along the route, delivered by BESIX, BESIX Infra and Franki Foundations for TUC Rail.
Watch the video below to see all the locations our colleagues worked on during the closure.
2. Walkway installation in Tanga Bay (Tanzania)
In Tanga Bay on Tanzania’s north coast, our colleagues have reached a visible milestone: the walkways for the jetty and load‑out facilities are now in place. It’s a clear sign of steady progress on a nearly completed project that requires both precision and teamwork in a challenging marine environment. Well done to everyone involved!
3. CEO visits our teams in the Middle East
Two weeks ago, our Group CEO Pierre Sironval spent several days with our colleagues in the Middle East, visiting a selection of landmark projects. The tour included Aramco Stadium, the Sohar Jetty project and the Zayed National Museum, among others. It was a great opportunity to see the progress first-hand and to recognise the commitment of the teams delivering these works.
4. Finishing touches in Christchurch
At One New Zealand Stadium in Christchurch, our BESIX Watpac team is adding the final touches as the project heads towards delivery. The latest video gives a great glimpse of the almost‑finished venue, now very close to welcoming its first 30,000 spectators. With the opening event planned for April 2026, the stadium is gearing up to host major matches and concerts from across New Zealand. Exciting times ahead for the team and for Christchurch!
And then this... KiddyBuild goes international
In Gabon, our colleagues have hosted their very first in‑class KiddyBuild session at a local primary school. Through this BESIX Foundation initiative, children get the chance to discover the world of construction in a fun and hands‑on way. A big shout‑out to volunteers Manon and Marina for guiding the session and inspiring a new group of young builders!
