Week of 1 May
1. Activity spotted in Svanemøllehavnen (Denmark)
Our colleagues in Copenhagen have started the sheet piling wall for the working platform in Svanemøllehavnen. We are in the lead in the consortium formed with our Danish partner MT Højgaard Denmark, to realise this technically complex project that includes the design and construction of a 1.4 km cut-and-cover road tunnel across the harbour, that will partially run under water for 700 m.
2. Global Safety Time Out (worldwide)
True to BESIX Group tradition, the BESIX Group Global Safety Time Out was held last Friday on World Day for Safety and Health at Work. It’s traditionally a moment where all BESIX Group employees pause from work to reflect, learn, and talk about safety, even more than usual. This year, the Global Safety Time Out focused on the BE SAFE Principles.
3. Underwater activity in Rotterdam (The Netherlands)
Last week saw the final pour of the underwater concrete for the Rottemer Tunnel. With this, another important milestone was reached on the A16, and appropriately celebrated with fries for the team! On behalf of the Client Rijkswaterstaat, BESIX NL and its partners are jointly responsible for the design, construction, financing and 20-year maintenance of the A16 Rotterdam.
4. Team gathering in Londerzeel (Belgium-Luxembourg)
On 20 April, the Annual Meeting of BESIX Belgium-Luxembourg took place. As always, it was a time for the teams to reflect on the past and talk about the main strategic directions for the future, share successes and lessons learned and network and foster meaningful contacts. Many challenges and exciting projects ahead, but nothing this team can’t handle!
And then this… Succession is assured! (France, Belgium)
A young visitor was spotted on the Saint-Denis Pleyel Station project site (Paris). Very attentive to safety instructions, the son of our colleague Sébastien came to admire progress on this impressive site.
A few hundred kilometres away, a primary school class visited Franki Foundations as part of KiddyBuild’s programme to learn about the exciting world of construction. Thanks to the colleagues who guided the children and passed on their know-how and to BESIX Foundation!
