Week of 9 June

1. BESIX Belgium-Luxembourg launches “Future Board” initiative

BESIX Belgium-Luxembourg has officially launched its Future Board, a new internal initiative designed to engage young professionals in shaping the business unit’s strategic direction. Composed of nine early-career colleagues, the board will act as an advisory body to the current management team, providing fresh insights and challenging established ways of working around innovation, business improvement and long-term thinking.

The initiative aims to encourage cross-generational collaboration and empower emerging talent to contribute actively to the development of the Business Unit. Youth power!

2. The F Tower’s core reaches its highest point (Ivory Coast)

Our team in Abidjan has achieved a significant milestone, as they’ve reached the highest point of the F Tower’s core, culminating at 308.42 metres. This remarkable feat required 18,000 m³ of concrete, 100,000 m² of formwork, and 2,000 tonnes of steel. Congratulations to our team in Ivory Coast!

On behalf of PFO Africa, BESIX is overseeing the project management and civil works of this impressive high-rise, set to be the highest tower of Africa.

3. World Environment Day and VIP visit at Zayed National Museum (UAE)

Last Thursday, 5 June, our team at Zayed National Museum celebrated World Environment Day with a workshop on recycling responsibility, tying in with this year’s global focus on tackling plastic pollution. The event serves as a great opportunity to reflect on the role we all play in protecting our planet. Well done, team!

Furthermore, the team had the honour of welcoming Belgian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Affairs and Development Cooperation, Maxime Prévot. He got a first-hand look at the fantastic progress being made on the museum, which is on track for completion later this year.

Note: M. Prévot is the 3rd person on the photo below, between HE Antoine Delcourt, Belgian Ambassador to the UAE, and Jean-Pol Bouharmont, Deputy COO of BESIX Construction.

Belgian Deputy Minister Prévot is second from the right, standing next to our team, with Jean-Pol Bouharmont, BESIX Middle East Managing Director, on the far right.

4. New look for equipment Franki Foundations

Our colleagues of Franki Foundations have given their equipment a BESIX makeover, making it more modern, more dynamic, and definitely more visible on site. On top of that, they’ve just added a new Bauer RG22 S to their fleet. This state-of-the-art foundation rig is specifically designed for cased auger piles and can be used for complex soil types. Moreover, it improves stability and adaptability on site. Naturally, it’s already sporting the new branding as you can see in the pictures below!

And then this... Cycling for the fight against cancer (Belgium)

This year again BESIX participated in the 1,000 km race for ‘Kom Op Tegen Kanker’ (= ‘Fight against cancer’). In a period of four days, from 29 May to 1 June, two BESIX teams of 8 colleagues each cycled a total of 1,000 km, 8 loops of 125 km each done by a member of the team in turns! The participants organised several activities to raise the fee to participate in this unique cycling event for the much-needed cancer research. In total, the event raised € 11,000.
