Today, Mieke Fordeyn joined BESIX Construction as Deputy COO. She will work alongside Jean-Pol Bouharmont as part of a planned leadership transition, gradually taking over his responsibilities ahead of his retirement at the end of 2027.
A civil engineer by training, Mieke brings more than 30 years of international experience in construction and marine engineering. During her career at Jan De Nul, she held a variety of operational and leadership roles across Belgium, the Middle East and Singapore before going on to lead international activities around the world. In 2024, she was named Engineer of the Year by the Alumni Association of Engineers of Ghent University, which recognised her technical expertise, leadership, commercial insight and ability to bring people together.
As Deputy COO at BESIX Construction, Mieke will support our Construction operations and work closely with our Business Units and Business Enablers. Her focus will include operational performance, governance, risk management, commercial development and collaboration across BESIX Construction.
Over the coming months, many colleagues will have the opportunity to meet Mieke as she visits teams across BESIX, learns more about our activities and gets to know the people behind them.
Welcome to the team, Mieke.
