Dear colleagues,
As we told you earlier this week, our collective efforts are starting to pay off and regular progress is booked on many fronts. Our common resilience and commitment to deliver have given us a positive drive again, and we are proud of the balance we have found between safeguarding both our health and our business. You made this happen, and we are grateful for it. Let us continue the remarkable work we have done over the past few months, with a renewed sense of cohesion and optimism, particularly in the challenging circumstances we know today.
You have heard or read about the new measures announced on Friday 16 October by the Belgian Government to curb the spread and contagion rate of Covid-19, while preserving a maximum of economic activities. In this context, with regard to our activities, the management of BESIX Group has taken the following decisions:
- We maintain the ongoing dynamic of recovery at our construction sites and continue the excellent work done by all of you over the past few months. This requires that we all behave in an exemplary manner so as not to contribute to the transmission of the virus. The health regulations applicable on our sites must still be strictly respected.
- Our offices, as direct continuation links of our sites, remain obviously up and running. The reality of our core business requires active side-by-side co-creation between sites and offices. On the floor collaboration is the essence of our success and experience taught us that people need to be able to see, talk, interact in person to be at their best.
- Sites and offices are complementing each other and as such, presence on site and at the offices is the ideal combination for efficiency.
- Managers are empowered to apply flexibly the current teleworking policy in such a way that the quality and active support given to ongoing construction sites and projects stays of utmost quality and efficiency. - Sites and offices are equipped for managing the sanitary risks, with sufficient disinfectants, rules of circulation and mandatory mask-wearing to minimize the risk. This week, Covid-19 safety measures have been the topic of the worldwide Safety Time-Out and have been explained once more to everyone.
- Management and QHSE teams will re-emphasize certain practical measures (eg. maximal amount of people in meeting rooms or lift, mask-wearing until sat at the desk, etc.). Respect and discipline are key words when it comes to the efficiency of the sanitary measures.
- If someone is concerned about his/her own safety, he/she is welcome to discuss this with his/her manager or Covid-Coordinator and see what steps can be taken to safeguard operations and service while feeling safe. - The management, for its part, remains attentive to the evolution of the situation. Keeping our commercial activity running, serving our clients, while containing the virus, is our N°1 priority.
Finally, we would like to remind you that, in Belgium, the official Corona Alert app is an efficient and anonymous way to protect yourself and others. Consider downloading this free application to keep informed if you have been in close contact with someone who has tested positive.
Reminder: all work instructions can be found here on the group’s intranet.
We thank you in advance, both for your commitment to respect the health rules and for your dedication to protect our economic activity.
Together, we will come out stronger. Take care of yourself and your loved ones.
