Support to victims of the war in Ukraine

Dear colleagues,

We are following with profound distress the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Like all of you, we are horrified by this military attack on a sovereign country and the unfolding humanitarian catastrophe.

We have a very special thought for our colleagues who are Ukrainian citizens or who have family ties and friends in Ukraine. We want them to know that they can turn to the BESIX family in these difficult times. Our thoughts also go to the Russian people who do not support this war and dare protest publicly against it.

As the situation on the ground is evolving rapidly, it is not always easy to know how to concretely help the victims of this devastating invasion. Donations can be made to international organisations active in Ukraine, such as the UN Ukraine Humanitarian Fund, UNICEF, the International Committee of the Red Cross or the Belgian Consortium 12-12 for emergency situations to name but a few.

We are also opening a specific channel to gather donations through the BESIX Foundation. BESIX Group is committed to doubling the donations made by the employees of all companies in the group. Donations to this fund will be specifically channeled to SOS Villages d’Enfants / SOS Kinderdorpen and Médecins du Monde / Dokters van de wereld with whom the Foundation has worked in the past.

In several parts of the Group, local initiatives are taken as we speak (fundraising quiz evening, clothes and food drives, etc.). We warmly thank the colleagues taking those initiatives.

With regard to our group's activities, we have no commercial contacts with Russia or Russian companies.

We will continue to carefully monitor and review the development of the situation in the region, and in particular in the countries bordering Russia and Ukraine where we are active, namely Georgia, Latvia and Poland. The safety of our employees is of paramount importance and we continue to put plans in place so that all employees and their families get the support needed.

We are also aware of the fears that we all share regarding this situation. Let us dare to believe in the capacity of our states and especially of the European Union to find solutions for peace and security for all. We stand united with Ukraine.

(In Belgium, any donation of €40 or more to a recognised humanitarian organisation is tax deductible. You benefit from this deduction if you make a direct donation to one of the many associations or organisations active in this conflict. If you make a donation to the BESIX Foundation, it is the Foundation that will benefit from the deduction when it makes the global donation on behalf of BESIX to SOS Villages d’Enfants / SOS Kinderdorpen and Médecins du Monde / Dokters van de wereld.)
