Developed by citydev.brussels, the Brussels Tivoli GreenCity district has obtained the BREEAM Outstanding environmental certification, officially making it the most sustainable district in the world. Jacques Delens, a BESIX Group entity focused on the Belgian market, actively contributed to its construction, in collaboration with the companies BAM Contractor and BPC.
The 4.5 hectare Tivoli GreenCity district includes 400 passive and/or energy-neutral houses, nurseries and shops. It combines concepts of soft mobility, social diversity and citizen participation with biodiversity objectives, green facades and particularly sustainable water, waste and electricity management systems.
Several architectural firms contributed to its design, including architectesassoc*, Parbam (Kairos, Pargesy), Adriana (Cerau, Atelier 55, Atlante, YY Architecture, Eole) and Boydens Engineering.
Jacques Delens and BESIX Group have often been forerunners in energy performance and ecological design of buildings. In Brussels in particular, Jacques Delens built the first passive office building in the European capital and was several times laureate of the be.circular prize of the Brussels-Capital Region for the Brederode II and Tour à Plomb projects.
