Dear colleagues,

It is with deep sadness that we must inform you of a tragic accident that occurred on Tuesday, 5 February 2025, on the Tanga Jetty project site in Tanzania.

While returning to port after the workday, our crew boat Mado capsized in the port channel with 13 passengers on board. Fortunately, all were wearing life vests, and thanks to the swift response of nearby vessels and emergency services, they were quickly rescued from the water. However, one of our colleagues, a welding and coating inspector, was found in critical condition. Despite receiving urgent medical care at the project site clinic, he sadly passed away.

In the wake of this tragic event, work on-site was immediately halted and will only resume later in agreement with the relevant authorities and our client. A psychological support unit is being made available on-site for any colleagues who need guidance or assistance during this difficult time.

In accordance with our procedures, we will conduct a thorough investigation in collaboration with the authorities and our client to understand the circumstances of this accident and take all necessary measures to prevent such tragedies in the future.

Everyone’s safety remains our highest priority, and we are committed to doing everything possible to make sure every one of us comes back home, safe, every day. We understand that this incident deeply affects us all. Our thoughts and deepest sympathies go out to the victim’s family, friends, and colleagues in Tanga.

We are here to support everyone affected in any way we can, so please do not hesitate to reach out should you need assistance or have any concerns.
