Encouragement in unsettling times

1 min read

Dear colleagues,

Combating COVID-19 is a collective effort that all of us have a responsibility for. Together with your senior leaders, it is our duty to put in place the right measures to protect your health, wellbeing and safety, while managing the broader business implications.

This is why the Group’s executive committee has taken the measures that you will find on this alert page on intranet. These measures are aimed at slowing down contamination. They must ensure the safety of our sites and preserve the health of our employees, with particular attention to the most vulnerable, while minimizing the impact of the epidemic on the Group's business. I ask you to ensure strict compliance with these measures as well as with all regulations dictated by the government and public health officials.

We recognize that these are unsettling times. We worry for our families and friends. We worry for the wellbeing of our teams, for the delays in our projects, for the service to our clients. Some of us might be confronted with a drop of workforce on site or with abnormal delays in site deliveries. Let me reassure you that the existing Business Continuity Planning processes are being currently reviewed to enable to maintain a certain level of operational effectiveness despite the volatile circumstances.

In the meantime, I wish everyone health and safety and believe that we will be able to overcome this obstacle together. While fear and uncertainty are understandable sentiments, I encourage everyone to confront this situation with calmness and reason and, more importantly, care for and support each other and extend compassion to those who are in need.

I hope that you, your family, friends and colleagues are safe and well, and are taking the necessary precautions to keep it that way.

Until the day we can meet again, let’s keep in touch virtually.

Stay healthy, stay calm.
Rik Vandenberghe
