Christophe Bauduin, Technical Director of BESIX Engineering and University Professor in Geotechnics at the KU Leuven, has been awarded the prestigious De Beer Prize for the period 2014-2018.
Created in 1982, the De Beer Prize is awarded once every four years by the Belgian group of the International Society for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (GMBS-BGGG), which is composed of representatives of the engineering faculties of all Belgian universities. It rewards an “outstanding engineer who has provided significant contributions to the theoretical, experimental, and design aspects of soil mechanics and foundation engineering”.
Fabian Boucher: “The De Beer prize is an eminently prestigious distinction. The choice of Christophe Bauduin is a great source of pride for all his colleagues at BESIX Engineering and BESIX Group. Christophe is an outstanding expert in his field. In addition to his exceptional engineering contribution to BESIX Group projects since 1989, he is a professor at the KU Leuven and has been involved in numerous normative groups, including at European level.”
Christophe Bauduin will officially receive the De Beer Prize at a reception in Brussels on 21 June 2022. He will give a presentation entitled “Bridge or gaps between understanding, engineering calculation models and standards of shear behaviour of ground? Historical overview and critical reflection.” This will be followed by a reception.
In the meantime, we invite you to discover a 4-page interview he gave for BESIX Group's 2021 Activity Report, in which he presents BESIX Engineering and describes the role and quality of the experts in the group's internal design office.
