Blue Sky update

Group 2 min read

Dear colleagues,

Please take a moment to review the latest update on Blue Sky and the work we’re doing together to strengthen our Integrated Management System (IMS).

Why Blue Sky and a strong IMS matter
Blue Sky is the project we’ve started a couple of months ago to revise and align how we work, learn and deliver. A robust management system sits at the heart of that: it’s how we make sure the information about how we operate gets to the right people, at the right time, in the right place. It supports safer operations, consistent quality, smarter decisions and, ultimately, better outcomes for our clients and our teams. When our information is clear and connected, our execution is faster, our risks are lower and our confidence is higher.

Thank you for the survey inputs
During the summer, many of you took time to complete the Blue sky survey. Thank you. Your responses were detailed, honest and hugely practical. They’ve given us a clear view of what works, where the gaps are, and what will help you most on the ground. We’re building directly on those insights.

Recognising the heavy lifting on processes
A special thank you to everyone involved in updating and defining processes, procedures and guidelines. It’s painstaking work, and we know it’s a huge endeavour on top of day-to-day jobs. The progress is real and it’s valuable: clearer guidance, fewer ambiguities, and a stronger baseline for consistent delivery across projects and regions. There are also many good ideas coming out of the workshops that can help us to become more efficient. Please keep the momentum: every refined process reduces friction for hundreds of colleagues.

Introducing our new management system and platform: Terra
In parallel, we’ve completed the vendor selection for the right digital tool and our new integrated management system, called Terra, can technically be implemented. The name fits: terra is the ground we stand on and the foundation on which we build. In the same way, Terra will be the solid ground for our information, i.e. stable, navigable and shared. It’s designed to make finding, using and maintaining information simple and reliable, with governance built in rather than bolted on.

Updated Group Policies and Group Rules
Alongside the process development and platform work, the revised Group Policies and Group Rules have been published. These set the “what” and the “why”, the principles, commitments and mandatory requirements that apply across the group. They’re written to be clearer, easier to navigate and supported by practical guidance. Please familiarise yourselves and cascade within your teams; they are the reference point for how we operate as one organisation.

A last note about the scope: keeping it simple
A quick clarification: Group Policies & Group Rules apply to all of us, whereas most of the processes in our management system focus on BESIX Construction specifically (aligned with the scope of our ISO certification).

That distinction shouldn’t get in the way. What matters is that everyone can see the system clearly and knows where to go for the current, correct way of working. Terra will be the place to find it; Group Policies and Rules are the compass that guide it.

Thank you again for your energy and leadership. We’re making real progress together, and the benefits (clarity, consistency and confidence) are already coming into view.
