Leveraging and strengthening our technical know-how
In order to enhance WATPAC’s expertise with new technical skills and to support the ever increasing complexity of our projects and the digital transformation of our industry, the Group will soon proceed with important organizational changes within BESIX Engineering Department and BESIX Contracting.
All our employees concerned, either directly or indirectly, by these new appointments are warmly thanked for their ongoing commitment and dedication towards BESIX. We wish them every success in their new responsibilities.
ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT
- Hubert Vander Meulen is appointed as Director Engineering Australia as of February 1, 2019. Hubert will lead the development of WATPAC’s Engineering Department in order to provide the company with new expertise and technical skills in Australia.
- Karel Demuynck, Head of Methods and Planning Australia, will work, as of April 1, 2019 in close cooperation with Hubert for all issues within the field of methods and planning.
- At the Brussels office, Werner Vits takes over the tasks and responsibilities of Hubert regarding Marine works. Werner will be assisted in his new duties by Loic Van Durmen.
- Patriek Depuydt is in charge of Hubert’s former responsibilities regarding steel engineering.
- Thomas Vandenbergh, current Head of BIM, has agreed to take on a new challenge within BESIX STAY. Thomas will work alongside CEO Eric Thoelen as COO of BESIX STAY. His drive and experience will contribute to enhance the take-off of this promising start-up.
Thomas remains involved in the UNLEASH program as Head of BESIX’s Innovation Board. - Given the ever increasing importance of the digital transformation in our business areas, BESIX has appointed Juan Nolet as BIM Manager for BESIX Contracting and Francois Snoeck as Manager New Digital Solutions within the Engineering Department.
- François Lederer is appointed as Head of BIM, Digital and Sustainable Solutions within the Engineering Department. In line with our purpose and strategic drivers, François will provide BESIX’s Contracting business units the necessary support to implement digital and sustainable solutions in our different projects.
In this regard, we remind you that we are continuously looking for new talents in order to reinforce our Methods, Planning, BIM and Design teams. Our focus lies on people with 5 to 10 years of experience.

BESIX CONTRACTING
Mike Paschalis and Christophe Bauduin are both appointed as Technical Director BESIX Contracting as of April 1, 2019.
The objective is to make their extensive technical knowledge more readily available for all BESIX’s Contracting business units.
- Mike will focus on Marine and High Rise projects;
- Christophe on Geotechnical and Civil projects.
Their responsibilities include to act as internal advisors and experts in order to support the group’s tender and projects teams. They will also contribute to building strong relations with external experts and consultants.
Last but not least, they will follow up and advise on new developments, including new materials, within the construction industry.
