Week of 15 March
1. Double MIPIM awards
On 16 March, the MIPIM Awards took place in Cannes, during an event entirely dedicated to the real estate sector. This prestigious event is a unique opportunity to celebrate the most useful, sustainable, and innovative projects in the real estate sector worldwide.
This year, three Group projects had been nominated among 43 finalists. Two of them received the much-coveted prize: Sluishuis in the category ‘Best residential project’ and Deloitte University EMEA in the category ‘Best alternative project’. Congratulations to all teams involved in these two magnificent projects for this well-deserved recognition of their hard work!
2. A nomination to be proud of
On 16 March another award ceremony took place: the MEDigital Construction Awards, in Dubai. In this case, we did not win, but BESIX Engineering and more precisely the VDC (Virtual Design & Construction) team in Dubai was shortlisted to represent BESIX in the category « Digital construction company of the year ». With more than 100 entries, being shortlisted in the top 4 and recognised as a top performer in the implementation of digital tools/BIM on large landmark projects is a great achievement none the less!
Congrats to the VDC team for your outstanding work!
3. Best practice in project coordination and communication at Barangaroo (Australia)
The project team of the Barangaroo metro station has a great way to make communication between sub-teams easier and more efficient. Before starting each shift, they hold a stand-up meeting in front of the whiteboard you see on the picture below to discuss any issues, give a status report of each aspect of the project and make sure everything is well-coordinated. Great practice, Barangaroo team! And perhaps it can inspire other project teams?
4. Welcome to our new colleagues… and all future ones
Every quarter BESIX Group’s head office in Brussels organises a Welcome Day for all its new recruits, coming from all horizons in the Group. 16 March was a busy day, as that day some 47 new hires could join the Welcome Day, where they received an in-depth introduction programme, including a general presentation of the group by our CEO, Pierre Sironval, and presentations on QHSE, our management of social media, training opportunities, procurement, our Integrated Management System, the BESIX culture and BESIX Foundation. They also got the opportunity to visit a nearby renovation project site by Jacques Delens.
We wish these new colleagues a warm welcome!
And we are still looking for additional new talents! With a full order book and many projects worldwide, BESIX is constantly hiring. All job opportunities are available on our website: Career opportunities - BESIX. Every month, we also promote the ‘jobs of the month’ internally and externally.
If you know anyone amongst your family, friends, or alumni, who wants to join a great team in an environment encouraging staff to learn, share ideas and develop one’s talents, have a look at our referral programme. Not only will you help making our team stronger, you will also earn a EUR 1,850 gross referral fee if all conditions are fulfilled!
And then this...

By the way, the Tour F team just successfully carried out a medical and evacuation exercise!
BESIX is participating in the construction of this high rise, in partnership with PFO Africa, for the site management as well as the civil engineering works. It will be Africa’s tallest tower.
