Week of 11 March

1. Topping out at DUUO (Portugal)

BESIX RED’s DUUO residential project reached its highest point last week. From the top of the building, you can now enjoy a beautiful view of the Praça de Espanha in the heart of Lisbon. DUUO is a 34,000 m² project comprising 280 apartments spread over two condominiums, which are being developed over two phases. Bravo to BESIX RED for this major milestone!

2. Update on the Kardinia Park Stadium redevelopment project (Australia)

In the timelapse below you can see the transformation of the Kardinia Park Stadium over 965 days of redevelopment work in Geelong, Victoria, in the South East of Australia. The project encompasses the construction of a new 14,000-seat, two-tier grandstand, a new northern entry plaza, a sports museum, an indoor cricket centre, new function and change rooms. Via this link, you can access a video which provides additional information on the works. Congrats to the BESIX Watpac team in Geelong for all the work already done!

3. International Women’s Day at BESIX

International Women’s Day was honoured at several places within BESIX Group last week, such as the Tanga jetty project, the Paris Saint-Denis Pleyel station project, and the F Tower in Abidjan. BESIX Watpac also hosted an International Women’s Day event and panel discussion with female guest speakers from the media and sports world who shared their stories and advice about how to succeed in male-dominated industries. BESIX Watpac employees will also be fundraising for Orange Sky Laundry, a not-for-profit organisation that provides mobile laundry and shower services for homeless and disadvantaged Australians, among which 80 % are females. Let's continue to support each other, acknowledging that our collective success is built on the foundation of diversity and equality!

4. Ensuring the future of construction with inspiring visits for students (Belgium and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg)

LuxTP recently welcomed 6th-grade secondary school students who spent a day discovering the world of construction. Our BESIX Infra colleagues also toured a group of secondary school students around their Rillar project site, where the youngsters were able to witness the practical side of road and sewerage works. Both these visits highlight the importance of collaboration between education and industry and demonstrate the value of integrating theory and practice, showing the next generation all the opportunities that lay ahead of them.

And then this... Nordhavn team fights against childhood cancer (Denmark)

For the third year in a row, the Nordhavn tunnel Project Team participated in ‘Football Shirt Friday’ to support and donate to the Danish Childhood Cancer Foundation. Thank you for this beautiful gesture of solidarity!
