Week of 4 December
1. Lux TP builds new Hospital Centre in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg
Lux TP has won a contract in a consortium with Galère Lux, CBL SA, and Félix Giorgetti, for the excavation, structural works, and some exterior works of the new Centre Hospitalier du Luxembourg. This 54,158 m² new site will regroup all acute clinical activities and the National Institute for Cardiac Surgery and Interventional Cardiology. Works will start early next year. Bravo and all the best for this new project to our colleagues in Luxembourg!
2. Two reasons to celebrate for Vanhout (Belgium)
Our colleagues at Vanhout held a ground-breaking ceremony last week for the Lago Grasduinen Bredene project. Together with ACH Bouw NV and swimming pool specialist LAGO, Vanhout is building the new municipal pool in Bredene, on the Belgian sea coast. This will be one of Belgium's largest gas-free pool complexes. The roof of the pool is virtually one big solar panel whose production, combined with geothermal energy (thanks to drillings up to 1,250-meter depth), means that the swimming pool will be able to run entirely electrically and therefore emit no CO2 at all. The pool will use 50 % less energy per visitor than a traditional swimming pool. Cherry on the cake, the contract is a DBFMO one, meaning that Vanhout will be involved in the project for 30 years. The swimming pool will open its doors in the fall of 2025. Congratulations Vanhout colleagues and good luck with this project!
Vanhout also recently delivered two new buildings in Sint-Truiden, in the Limburg Province, for a local psychiatric hospital. Congratulations to the Vanhout team on the finalisation of this major project for the community!
3. DUT wins a Construction Week Middle East Award (UAE)
Exciting news in Dubai as well! DMCC, the master developer behind the Dubai Uptown Tower, has won this year’s prestigious Construction Week Award for Mixed-Use Development. A beautiful prize for this dazzling tower and a wonderful recognition for our Dubai team’s amazing work.
Six Construct is close to finishing this 340-metre high, 77-story tower in Dubai’s Uptown District for DMCC (Dubai Multi Commodities Center). This iconic tower welcomes Grade A offices, retail spaces, the luxurious 5-star SO/ Uptown Dubai Hotel and Residences, and a spectrum of restaurants and cafes. Uptown Tower has been built using best-in-class sustainable building practices, achieving LEED Gold status in the global sustainability framework and Dubai Green Building Regulation.
4. A graduation in style (France)
On 30 November, Sorbonne University organised the 2022-2023 graduation ceremony for the students of the Master in Real Estate Investment and Construction Management & Strategy. As the sponsor of the class, our CEO Pierre Sironval had the pleasure of warmly congratulating the graduates on their achievements. As you can see in the pictures, the famous university had chosen a particularly prestigious venue for the event, their ‘grand salon’ and peristyle.
And then this... When tradition prevails (Italy)
On Monday, our colleagues at the Valfabbrica SS318 construction site in Italy celebrated the traditional Mass of Saint Barbara, patron saint of miners and - by extension -tunnel workers, in the presence of all staff and representatives of our client ANAS and local authorities. It was also a beautiful occasion of collegiality and recognition of the tunnel team’s hard work!
