2. Beams hoisted in place on the A16 high-speed railway viaduct (The Netherlands)
A fine piece of lifting work took place two weeks ago on the A16 ‘De Groene Boog’ project site. Four large telescopic cranes (two 700-tonne and two 500-tonne cranes) were used to lift into place the thirty 46.5 metre-long and 110-tonne concrete girders for the viaduct over the high-speed railway line. The 30 concrete beams had to be transported on site individually by a special convoy.
Impressive job, team A16!
3. Zayed City Schools off to a great start (UAE)
The Zayed City Schools project is making steady progress, with visible tower cranes on site being used effectively. After obtaining the main building permits, the construction is flourishing above ground with the installation of its columns, the first-floor slab with its post tension tendons, and progress on its substations.
Recently, the project also achieved a significant milestone of half a million man-hours without any Lost Time Injury (LTI), with approximately 600 workers employed across the three schools. This achievement demonstrates again our unwavering commitment to safety.
Congratulations to our colleagues in Abu Dhabi!
This project is the UAE's first public-private partnership in the field of school infrastructure, a pioneering project confirming BESIX’s trusted status as industrial equity provider in the Middle East. It covers the design, procurement, construction, financing, commissioning, and 20-year operations and maintenance of three new school campuses with an aggregate capacity of 5,360 students in Abu Dhabi’s Zayed City.
4. LUX TP joins the fight against cancer (Luxembourg)
A few days ago, our colleagues in Luxembourg participated in a charity event for the fight against cancer, ‘Relay for Life’. They walked or ran for 24 hours in the Grand Duchy’s main stadium, 24 hours to show support for patients with or survivors of cancer and their families, who have to live with the illness 24/7. They were part of the 13,000 walkers or runners who brought hope to this cause during the weekend of 25 and 26 March.
And then this...

The first steel bridge span on the Kangaroo Point side has been installed for the Kangaroo Point Green Bridge. Four steel deck modules, each weighing approximately 24 tonnes and measure approximately 15 metres, were transported up the Brisbane River via barge to be installed.
