Week of 1 September
1. Milestone moment and visit at Meir Project (Belgium)
Last week, our teams from BESIX and Wycor celebrated a key milestone at the Meir Project in Antwerp: the first glass panels were carefully fitted into the façade’s historic arches. A delicate task, carried out with precision alongside our trusted subcontractor. The site also hosted the latest PM Meeting, bringing together project managers from across Belgium for a guided tour and exchange with the local team.
The Meir Project blends new construction with renovation, transforming a former building complex into a vibrant mixed-use space. It will include a sustainable campus for Karel de Grote Hogeschool and a prestigious retail complex for property developer Meir Corner.
2. Shellharbour Hospital is rising from the ground (Australia)
In Australia, our BESIX Watpac colleagues are making solid progress on the new Shellharbour Hospital. With concrete pours under way and structural works picking up pace, the building is now visibly rising from the ground. Once complete, the hospital will offer expanded and modern health services, including a larger emergency department, to meet the growing demand for healthcare services in the Illawarra region. Keep up the good work, team!
Catch a glimpse of the site’s evolution in the drone footage below.
3. Ministerial visit at cybersecurity centre built by Wust (Belgium)
Last Monday, Belgian Minister of Defence and Foreign Trade Theo Francken visited the new Cybersecurity Centre of Excellence in Transinne. During the visit, he shared his pride in this strategic investment, which provides comprehensive cybersecurity services to organisations operating critical infrastructures across Europe, including in the transport, space and defence sectors. Our entity Wust was in charge of coordinating all construction works for this 3,300 m² facility. A great achievement for the team, congratulations!
4. Reaching new heights at Aerospacelab's Megafactory (Belgium)
At Aerospacelab’s Megafactory site in Charleroi, BESIX and Galère are making strong headway. Structural works are nearly complete, while waterproofing and façade installation are progressing steadily. Once finished, this state-of-the-art facility will be capable of producing up to 500 satellites a year, making it Europe’s largest satellite factory and the third largest in the world.

And then this... Family moments in Belgium
On Sunday 24 August, our Socogetra colleagues enjoyed a sunny Family Day at Pairi Daiza, joined by their loved ones for a day of discovery and fun. With 950 attendees, it was a fantastic turnout and a great opportunity to connect outside of work.
Meanwhile in Brussels, the team behind The Hive welcomed their families on site for a special visit. For the little ones, it was a chance to see up close the impressive work their parents are doing. On behalf of BNP Paribas Fortis, we are renovating this 60,100 m² office building with a strong focus on material circularity.
