How to use Microsoft Teams

1 min read

Dear colleague,

On Saturday 21/03, we migrated from Skype to Microsoft Teams. The frequent use of the tool Skype because of the high number of people who are teleworking at the moment, showed that Skype did not have enough capacity. Teams solves this.*

Are you looking for information about how to use Teams in the best possible way? You can find it here:

  • The training department offers you an e-learning module about working with Teams. You’ll find it in the e-Academy. Log in to the e-Academy here. You’ll find the training under the tab ‘Training’. Are you having issues with the e-Academy? Contact them via the eacademy@besix.com.
  • The IT department made a Wiki-page on Teams replying to the frequently asked questions. You’ll find it via this link. Under the other tabs, you can find videos and documents showing you how to work with Teams. If you’re still experiencing issues after watching these, contact the IT department via ICT@besix.com.
  • Important: Make sure to restart your laptop or computer after you’ve downloaded Teams. This helps to properly install all its functionalities. If you haven’t done this since downloading Teams last week, you can do it now.

The migration to Teams implies that you’ll find it more difficult to participate in a Skype meeting. If you’ve planned Skype meetings yourself in the future, you should replace them by Teams-meetings. Here’s how to do that.

If you receive an invitation to a Skype for Business meeting by external people who don’t have access to Teams, you can still attend it. The document attached to this email explains how.

*If you haven’t downloaded Teams yet, as instructed in the email sent by Communication and IT on Thursday 19 March, you can still do so. Skype for Business doesn’t work anymore on your laptop or computer. Follow the instructions in the document attached to download Teams. If you have questions or issues, contact your IT department.
